We made it! It was a
long day of traveling, but we’re finally here.
We had a good trip, but it’s really good to be unloading our stuff and
settling in. It appears we’re the only
group staying onsite this weekend. The
sanctuary is decorated with Christmas trees and gifts and the narthex is suited
with a new pool table. The girls set up
in the sanctuary after moving some chairs aside and the guys set up their
spaces in the narthex.
As a leader who is here for my fourth time, I’m super
excited to be back with a new group.
I’ve already seen some familiar faces and had some good
conversations. We had a really warm
welcome by Miss Bebe. She met us at the
door and welcomed us inside. She told us
over and over again how thankful she and everyone at 7 Bridges are to have us
here for the next few days. I have great
expectations for our time here. I know
God has great plans for each individual in our group.
After settling in, we took a short tour of the grounds and
changed into our pajamas. We each found
a spot in the pews and spent some time reflecting on our day and what was to
come. Our devotion was on “Being
Love.” The scripture our devotion was
centered on was James 2:14-18, 26. We
talked about how faith isn’t meant to be lived only in our heads and hearts;
it’s also meant to take on the form of action through our hands and feet.
We spend a great deal of time doing devotionals, reading scripture, listening to great pastors, worshipping through music and prayer, but how much time do we spend putting our faith into action? It is my prayer this trip will stretch minds, expand comfort zones and provide the opportunities to, not only put faith into action while we are down here, but to make it easier to do so when we get back home.
